Welcome to my column, “Alexis Writes” -- Your Place for Comprehensive Human Wellness Information promoting positive information for people open to change.
In talking about human development, understand that universal laws govern human beings from a divine perspective. Some of the universal laws (a.k.a. God’s laws) are: Cause & Effect, Gratitude, Love and Attraction. In this issue we will briefly examine The Law of Attraction.
Consider the saying, “Thoughts Are Things.” How many times have you made a negative comment like, “God, I’ll never get the hang of math,” or “I’ll just die if I don’t get this or that…” only to be kindly reprimanded by your “mom-like” someone that “thoughts are thing,” or “what you talk about, you bring about.”
What does this mean? Something to the effect that words have power and that what you think can actually come into existence. Scary? Well, consider this - “Your thoughts have already created your current reality.” That’s the one that got me.
I stopped, looked around at my “busy” life and realized that in order to grow to my next level of development, I’d have to own the fact that what I was experiencing my today’s life because of my yesterday’s thoughts and actions or inactions; also that the very people I was complaining about, I had brought into my life. Again, a tough pill to swallow.
In recent years there has been much talk and publicity about the Law of Attraction, especially with the 2006 release of the movie/documentary, “The Secret.” It shared simple living principles for those willing to take a new look at old ways of thinking. There’s another saying, “Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.” Think about that one.
So, if you desire additional growth in your life, I strongly suggest revisiting information at the library, book outlets, DVD’s, etc. similar to “The Secret.”
In the meantime – think about what you want, rather than what you don’t want; strive to feel good in the process and be grateful for everything good in your life right now. Much success and happy growing…
